“… The famous painter TO NGOC VAN is among the leading representatives of modern Vietnamese art. His art has deep influences over generations of Vietnamese artists and has been favorably receive by art-loving circles outside the country. A devoted teacher and an exemplary school principal in his lifetime, he made considerable contributions to building the Vietnam Fine Arts school during the hard years of our anti-French resistance. His disciples and the young generation of Vietnamese artists always thought of him with heartfelt veneration and profound love.
In the memory of the 40th anniversary of his fall on the field of honor in Dien Bien Phu (June 17th 1954 – June 17th 1994) we publish this book ‘ Painter To Ngoc Van ‘ as an attribute to his merit in the hope of bringing out other, more complete studies on his life and work whenever possible.
We look forward to receiving opinions and comments from our readers. …”
